Spirou And Fantasio And Other Nonsense

Description

Basically, a collection of about eight or nine pages from my sketchbook over the past two months, mostly featuring fanart of the Franco-Belgian comic series Spirou Et Fantasio (this is all your fault, *hot-choc), but also including, approximately in order of appearance, Sherlock Holmes and friends, a constantly interrupting Ice King, some Archie Comics characters, original characters of mine from "Madness In A Box" and "Heroina: Robot Detective" and "El Bandito And Odoralla", one instance of Bill from Pokémon, and some random assorted weirdness that occurs when my friends say or do silly things when I have my sketchbook near at hand.

Since these are just offhand sketches to blow off steam, I don't always put a ton of effort into them, so it's not like any of this is my best work or anything. But I do still like a bunch of these.

Also, the "social awkwardness roundtable" thing there was based on a realization I'd had that every single fictional character about whom I'd recently thought "I should be best friends with you" happened to all share a common trait with me...the unfinished figure was meant to be Abed from Community, but apparently I never got around to looking up reference and sketching him in. Which is weird because I've drawn him before.

Also, for clarification's sake, the Spirou Et Fantasio "don't worry, I have a plan" two-panel gag was totally based on that one scene from The Emperor's New Groove where they have to work together to climb out of the crevasse or whatever, but with the addition of the fact that (in my opinion at least) Fantasio happens to be just a regular guy while Spirou is some kind of genius prodigy something-or-other who is impossibly good at everything. Also, the sketches of them as kids (some of my favorites in this sketchdump) were partially based on Fabrice Tarrin's "The Heroic Youth Of Fantasio" and partially on these adorable doodles that *hot-choc did. Also, I drew me and her in the S et F style somewhere in there, because I'm a dork. :P Though I did wind up using the design for her anyway.

...I think that's all there is to say. :P
