A bunch of assorted stuff I've drawn between the beginning of summer and a few weeks ago. Holmes:
Drawn after watching the first season of Sherlock
on Netflix. (It was awesome.) I find it funny that my design for Sherlock never changes, but my Watson looks totally different every time I fanart him. (Mostly it's the dilemma that I love "strapping young man Watson" from the original story canon, but most of my favorite actors in his role have been the blustery eternally-bewildered older men.
Compromising between the two is so hard.)Bat-Family:
I miss when Cassandra used to use kissing as a universal method of communication. As soon as she learned how to use words, she got significantly more self-conscious about stuff like that. (Also, I can't believe she and Steph never got to reunite "on-camera" in the comics before the reboot.
At least I got Red Robin
#25 and Gates Of Gotham
for my Cass fix.) (Also, Damian Wayne has a great capacity for being impossibly adorable.) (Also, "Dick" there refers to the pictured Batman being Dick Grayson, rather than being a derogatory descriptor.
)The New Teen Titans:
In almost all aspects of everything I much prefer the Teen Titans cartoon canon to the original comics canon, with the major exception being Terra. Much as I love having her as such a tragic character in the cartoon, being so insecure about herself and her powers that she could be so easily manipulated into betraying her only friends...I just love her so much more as a bratty manipulative little [rhymes with "witch"].
And those obnoxious buck teeth. I also love the idea of her being the one abusing Slade rather than vice-versa; the "FML" sketch mostly came from this moment in a post-Terra's-death comic where Slade and Gar wind up having a randomly uncharacteristic heart-to-heart in a café, and this scene occurs with a hilarious pause moment: [link]
The pause was probably meant to read as "If I tell this kid that I so uncharacteristically befriended twenty minutes ago that I slept with his 16-year-old not-quite-girlfriend, he'll either try to kill me again or I'll just never hear the end of it", but it always reads to me more like "Oh god, do you have any idea how hard
I've tried to suppress those memories?"
Also, Silver Age Mad Mod is excessively fun to draw. (To explain that gag a little, Starfire's civilian job in-comic was as a photography model, with Donna Troy as the photographer.)Chip 'N' Dale's Rescue Rangers:
Finally finished watching my Volume 2 DVD set, after at least a year. Monty's still my favorite. (The design for young Gadget was taken from some issue of the Boom Studios
comic.)Phineas and Ferb:
Still got a crazy fangirl crush on Doofenshmirtz.
He just NEVER. STOPS. BEING. FUNNY. (And I still love how he can't recognize Perry without his hat.)
...So yeah. There you go.
